How to Find Freedom in Failure
Yesterday, I lost out on an internship, and I was pretty sad...for like an hour. The process took a while and I did not get my desired outcome, but that's okay.
Too often do we become discouraged when things do not work out in our favor. Just remember, what's for you will always be for you, and nobody can take that away from you...except for you. With that being said, here are a couple ways to thrive (or fail):
Appreciate the struggle.
It'll make you value your successes even more, trust me.
The saying "your network determines your net worth" is very true.
Surround yourself with ambitious people who want to see everyone do their best. If you know that your friends are holding you back, find some new ones!
Just attending college and/or working is not enough.
You've got to be willing to take risks to get to the next level. That is how we learn and grow as individuals. I honestly can't elaborate on that anymore, because you've got to interpret it as you see fit. Whatever you do, get out of your comfort zone!
Make sure that your work is meaningful.
Lead by example. How can you expect to move others when you're not passionate about what you're doing?
I would rather try new things and fail than continue to follow the status quo and be comfortable. Sure, there are some jobs out there that I could get easily and call it a day, but I'm choosing to challenge myself. Today, I am pursuing a new internship opportunity, and it's for something that I would have never thought possible! And guess what? I'm pretty happy about it too.
